The way the black rides and sheds is unique, and it is a fun species to watch as the pattern changes as it grows. It is a strong swimmer and shows its true potential when allowed to swim freely in a spacious aquarium. It
is hardy to keep and will feed well on artificial feed. It easily pollutes the water, so strong filtration and frequent water changes are key. It can be kept with other fish of the same size or larger, but it is safer to keep it with other fish of the same size
or larger. ■ Maximum size: Approximately 40-60cm
■ Water temperature: 18-28°C
■ Water quality: Weakly acidic to weakly alkaline (approximately pH 6.5-8.0)
■ Personality: Generally gentle, but may become aggressive as it grows larger
