The small spots scattered along its sides and the vibrant coloring it shows when it spreads its fins are appealing, and you can enjoy the changes in color and contrast as it grows. Despite its subdued body color, it is a highly ornamental species whose appearance changes depending on the light.
It is relatively hardy and easy to raise, but due to its carnivorous and territorial nature, it is generally recommended to keep it alone. It easily adapts to artificial and frozen food, and feeds well after introduction. Due to its strong jumping ability, a lid is required.
