This large fish is representative of South America and is a popular species with a streamlined body and graceful swimming style. At approximately 15cm, this young fish is ready to watch as it grows rapidly. Its fine, shiny scales and long, elongated fins are beautiful, and its leisurely swimming in the upper layers creates an impressive presence in the aquarium. It
is easy to adapt to artificial and frozen food, and is relatively hardy to care for. However, its rapid growth spurt requires a larger tank for future use. Its strong jumping ability means a lid must be kept. It will prey on fish large enough to fit in its mouth, so care must be taken when keeping it with other fish.
