It has a gentle but carnivorous temperament, preying on small fish and shrimp that fit in its mouth. It feeds well on sinking carnivorous pellets and frozen bloodworms, and is hardy and easy to raise. It is adept at escaping, so a lid is essential. It is safe to keep it tightly closed.
