Nishikigoi Nursing Home in Uonuma
A pond that connects lives: A new home for Nishikigoi carp that live out their lifespans
Nishikigoi were once raised with great care by human hands.
However, many were forced to give up for unavoidable reasons, such as their owners getting older, moving, or finding it difficult to maintain the aquarium.
We started the "Pond that Connects Life" project to support the "second life" of these Nishikigoi.
"A place to watch over Nishikigoi as they live out their lifespan"
No euthanasia takes place here.
The environment is set up so that Nishikigoi, once loved by someone, can continue to swim peacefully until the very end.
This is not just a breeding pond, but a place that offers heartwarming options for the "destination of life."

It is also a place where visitors can experience the weight and beauty of life and coexistence with nature through Nishikigoi.
Management Policy
subject
We accept
Nishikigoi that have become difficult to raise in Uonuma, especially large specimens over 50cm The reality is that the larger the Koi that enthusiasts have been raising for many years, the more limited their recipients are.
That is why we have made it our mission to be the "last resort" for them.
Acceptance Method
Pick-up free of charge (however, there is a fee for in-person pickup).
After delivery, the animals are released into the "Life-Connecting Pond" after their health condition is confirmed.
Health management and water quality checks are also carried out regularly as necessary.
If you would like to pick up a Nishikigoi, please refer to here and contact us.
breeding location
The setting is a flowing water reservoir in Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture .
In this environment where pure water from the mountains circulates naturally, without relying on artificial filtration systems, the Nishikigoi are able to regain their natural state of life throughout the four seasons.
Covered in snow in winter, the waterside sees buds bloom in spring. Spending time with nature like this supports the Nishikigoi's peaceful retirement.

the purpose
- Achieving zero euthanasia
does not mean "letting go = the end," but rather leads to "a new cycle of life."
We provide an environment where elderly Nishikigoi can live in peace after many years of protection- Collaboration with tourism, education and welfare We
to create a "Learning Pond" that local children and tourists can visit and
experience the preciousness of life and the environment.
Small animals will be passed on to the next owner
Young fish and small fish under 50cm
sold at low prices at Kanedai stores , helping to find new owners.
This is not just a sale, but part of a cycle that connects lives.
By combining "taking in" and "entrusting" as two wheels, more lives are led to happier places.
Conclusion
Nishikigoi are not simply ornamental fish.
They are living creatures that have spent time with people and carry memories.
The "Pond that Connects Life" is a place where they can spend the rest of their lives in peace and soothe people's hearts. We
that their appearance will also inspire us to think about how we ourselves view life and how we pass it on to future generations -
this is the kind of circulating place we want to be.
